Everyday Use by Alice Walker Literary Analysis Essay

This lesson plan uses Alice Walker's "Everyday Use" to introduce students to the terms flat, round, static, and dynamic as they relate to literary characters. Students will draw conclusions. Alice Walker writes the short story Everyday Use in relation to herself as a little girl who was shot in the eye by a BB gun, similar to Maggie who was burned in the house fire. Walker also got a chance to correct his eyes and attended college, just like Dee's character. Walker portrays his characters to embody the African American.
